Royal Distinction is a 16 year old dark brown, almost black, gelding. He was originally adopted many years ago from RMR but due to life circumstances, he was returned. He was adopted and returned again when his second adopter chose not to care for him any longer.
RD had a significant amount of training while he was with his first adopter and competed in numerous cross country events and jumps flawlessly. He has very good ground manners and is easy to handle. He gets along well with other horses and has a playful disposition.
Royal Distinction was diagnosed with minimal kissing spine a several of years ago but continued to compete with minimal maintenance. When he was returned to RMR, we took him to Dr. Gilchrist at Lone Star Park Equine Hospital for an updated evaluation. Dr. Gilchrist thought Royal Distinction would be a good candidate for the spinal surgery and offered to donate his services to help RD. After his rehab, RD was adopted and continued his riding and jumping career but was returned again. Dr. Gilchrist re-examine and took additional xrays after his return and said his spine had not changed.
We can not thank Dr. Gilchrist and Lone Star Park Equine Hospital enough for their generosity and thoughtfulness. Please email us at remembermerescue@live.com if you are looking for a sweet, easy going, playful companion.
