Remember Me Rescue is a Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance Accredited 501(c)3 organization specializing in rehabilitating, retraining and rehoming retired racehorses.
Royal Distinction is a 12 year old dark brown, almost black, gelding. He was originally adopted many years ago from RMR but due to life circumstances, he was returned to help us find him another great home. Royal had a significant amount of training while he was with his owner. He has competed in numerous cross country events and jumps flawlessly.
Royal Distinction was diagnosed with minimal kissing spine a couple of years ago but continued to compete with minimal maintenance. When he was returned to RMR we took him to Dr. Gilchrist at Lone Star Park Equine Hospital for an updated evaluation. Dr. Gilchrist thought Royal Distinction would be a good candidate for the spinal surgery and offered to donate his services to help RD. The surgery seems to be a success. He will need 60 days of R&R before we get back under saddle. Please keep checking back for updates. We hope by summer he will be back to his athletic happy self.
We can not thank Dr. Gilchrist and Lone Star Park Equine Hospital enough for their generosity and thoughtfulness.
Please email us at remembermerescue@live.com if you would like updates on RD and his progress.
