He will not be available until February 1, 2025 to give us some time to put some weight back on him and get a check up at the vet, but we would encourage any potential adopter to come spend some time with him. He loves being brushed and hand grazing grass.
Royal Distinction is a 15 year old dark brown, almost black, gelding. He was originally adopted many years ago from RMR but due to life circumstances, he was returned. He was recently returned again when his second adopter chose not to care for him any longer.
RD had a significant amount of training while he was with his first adopter and competed in numerous cross country events and jumps flawlessly. But those days are over and we will be looking for a companion only home for him.
RD is a saint in the stall and in the pasture. He has very good ground manners and is easy to handle. He gets along well with other horses but is not aggressive enough to be fed in a herd environment so he must be fed separately.
Royal Distinction was diagnosed with minimal kissing spine a several of years ago but continued to compete with minimal maintenance. When he was returned to RMR the first time, we took him to Dr. Gilchrist at Lone Star Park Equine Hospital for an updated evaluation. Dr. Gilchrist thought Royal Distinction would be a good candidate for the spinal surgery and offered to donate his services to help RD.
We can not thank Dr. Gilchrist and Lone Star Park Equine Hospital enough for their generosity and thoughtfulness.
Please email us at remembermerescue@live.com if you would like updates on RD and his progress.
