Laycock Bay was born on May 6, 2011, a old war horse who raced 76 times. During his long career he won 16 races, ran 11 seconds, and 14 thirds, earning $183,942. His last race was August 29, 2021. He was retired. Laycock's trainer had previously been approached by a family friend who asked if he could have Laycock for his kids due to his kind nature. His trainer agreed and Laycock left the track and became a family horse.
Fast forward to June 15, 2022. We found Laycock at a local horse sale and purchased him with money raised on social media from our followers. He ran through the auction at 1:30 am. It was a very long day but absolutely worth the wait.
The following day Laycock Bay's previous trainer called us very upset after he had been made aware of the situation. He wanted all the details and even offered to help with Laycock's expenses. His family friend had betrayed him and was not returning his calls.
After Laycock's quarantine and evaluations were complete, we decided due to his arthritic condition and other special needs to make him a sanctuary resident. He will live out his days here, safe at Remember Me.
We need to raise $8000 for Laycock Bay's sanctuary care fund for 2024.
We accept PayPal and Zelle.
