Bal Harbour is an 8 year old multiple stakes winning gelding. He was claimed for $50,000 in Sept.‘22. He only ran 2 times for his new connections running 3rd in the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance Stakes in Keeneland and then winning the Tinsel Stakes at Oaklawn Park in December.
His connections noticed some changes to his ankle and gave him some much deserved time off. Last month they decided it was in Bal Harbour’s best interest not to return to the track. Now, thanks to their responsible actions, he will have a long, happy, healthy life.
We salute owners like this. They could have dropped him back into the claiming ranks but didn’t want to see him end up in a bad place. Instead, they donated him to a 501(c)3 that retrains horses for 2nd careers and adopts with contracts to make sure he is safe. Thank you to everyone involved in this horse’s future.
