Monday, April 4th a few minutes before 11pm Remember Me Rescue was directly hit by an EF-2 Tornado. We had many horses out in paddocks, including 3 of our 4 senior permanent residents. We are happy to report that even though we had 112 mph winds no horses were injured, not even so much as a scratch. Unfortunately, our paddock fences and one barn were badly damaged and we lost more than 30 large trees.
From moments after the tornado hit until 2:30 am we were searching for, rounding up, and examining horses by flashlight since all power was knocked out during the storm. Thankfully, we had enough stalls to safely house all of the horses thanks to a 20 stall barn donated by Midwest Thoroughbreds in 2012.
Although insurance will cover the damage to our farm managers home and our office, they will not cover the barn or any of the paddock fences.
We are asking for a little help to get our paddocks repaired and our horses back outside on the green grass where they love to be. In addition to the repairs we didn't budget for the unexpected extra bedding or hay we would be feeding while horses were kept in the stalls. Any help will be greatly appreciated during this chaotic time. All donations to RMR are tax deductible. Donations can be made through PayPal, Venmo or Zelle, or by mailing a check to RMR.
