Trumans Bet is a 2 year old, unraced gelding. Truman was injured in an early training incident and after a few months of rehab his owner decided it would be better for Truman if he had an easier job, especially since he wasn't showing a lot of interest in being fast anyway.
Truman was x-rayed in February and had a fracture in each knee and a chip in his ankle. He was given 2 months rest and then x-rayed again in April. One knee was almost completely healed, the other needed a little more time, but the chip would need to be taken out for Truman to have a career racing. The decision was made to donate him to RMR so he could have a little more rehab time before finding an easy career that would not require him to have surgery.
Well, after another 6 weeks of rest at RMR, we took Truman to have more xrays to make sure the knees were healed. They looked great and should not be a problem for him to go on to a successful second career. The chip, however, would restrict him from a performance type career but his prognosis would be unlimited if it was removed.
We made the decision to schedule Truman for surgery on Tuesday, July 12th. The surgery was sucessful and the chip was removed. He is currently rehabilitating at Remember Me where he will need 60 more days of rest and hand walking.
