Remember Me Rescue is a Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance Accredited 501(c)3 organization specializing in rehabilitating, retraining and rehoming retired racehorses.
Hit A Lick was surrendered to RMR on March 12, 2021. He was injured in his last race at Zia Park in December after a long, successful racing career with 44 starts and earnings of more the $200,000. His owner and trainer thought they gave him to a good home. Thankfully, the new owner contacted us after she found out that he could not be ridden for a long time and she brought him to us.
Hit A Lick had a fractured sesamoid. It was not properly rehabilitated at the beginning but he has recovered remarkably well since receiving care at Remember Me. He was x-rayed on August 3rd and now has a very good prognosis as a riding horse. Although he may never jump or do speed events, Hit A Lick will make someone a wonderful trail or low level dressage prospect. (Video of Hit A Lick's 3rd ride after rehab below)
Hit a Lick has been with us at RMR since March. His rehabilitation has been costly but very successful and he will go on to have a long healthy life.
Pease consider a donation in his honor.
Hit A Lick's appearance has changed quite a bit since he has been here with us. Here is a photo from March.
